Dry Ice Info

Dry Ice is pure, solid carbon dioxide (CO2). As a gas, carbon dioxide exists naturally in our environment. To make dry ice, gaseous CO2 is first pressurized and refrigerated to form liquid CO2 and then liquid CO2 is allowed to expand in an atmospheric chamber where it yields solid "snow like" CO2 and vapor CO2. The "snow" is then hydraulically pressed into dry ice blocks and pellets. Dry ice is -109 degrees Fahrenheit. It should be handled with gloves.

CAUTION!

	Dry ice is extremely cold (109 degrees below zero).
	Avoid contact with skin, eyes, mouth and clothing - May cause cold burns.
	Asphyxiate - Liberates heavy gas which may cause suffocation.
	Keep out of reach of children.
	Do not eat or put into drinks.
	Do not seal in glass or other closed containers.
	Do not enter areas where used or stored until properly ventilated.
	Use heavy gloves when handling.
	Dry ice displaces oxygen in the air. You should use it in a well ventilated area. If transporting dry ice in a vehicle and you feel short of breath, simply roll down the vehicle window. If used in a confined space, open a door before entering.
	Never place dry ice in a tightly sealed container or vessel (i.e. glass or plastic bottle) as dry ice converts back to gas and creates its own pressure.
	If you are shipping frozen products with dry ice you must notify the carrier prior to shipment.

SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS

To ship your favorite frozen foods any where via U.P.S. and Post Office by ground transportation simply pack the frozen food in a sturdy Styrofoam shipping container from ICE EXPRESS. Place 20 pounds of dry ice on top for three to four day shipments and 10 pounds for overnight and 2 day shipments. Put the lid on top of the box and tape the outer carton with approved shipping tape. PLEASE READ CAUTION INFORMATION before handling dry ice. Check with carrier for any restrictions.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE OF DRY ICE

Dry Ice and Recreation: Camping, Hunting and Fishing

	Place dry ice in the bottom of your cooler, cover it completely with regular ice. Continue to pack your cooler as usual with food and beverages. The cooler will keep items cold for 3-4 days.
	Prevent Spoilage of Game
	Pack your game animal or fish in dry ice to insure nonspoilage (Do not allow direct contact of trophy with dry ice; it may cause superficial damage.)

Dry Ice & Frozen Foods

No need to rush home after purchasing frozen foods if you pack your ice cream and other frozen items with dry ice. Ship frozen items with dry ice to ensure food will remain frozen.

Dry Ice & Power Outage

Estimate lbs. of frozen foods in freezer utilizing 1 lb. of dry ice per lb. of food to maintain temperature for approximately 45 hours.

Dry Ice & Your Automobile

Shrink metal fittings to aid in bearing installation. Heat shrink automotive body parts. Use to repair automotive hail damage by placing dry ice directly into center of dent for a short moment and the dent may pop out.

Dry Ice Facts

Dry Ice attracts mosquito's. Place a block of dry ice in your yard and the mosquito's will be attracted to it rather than humans or pets. (Note: dry ice will burn grass, foliage, etc. so place dry ice on dirt.) Dry ice can be utilized in freeze branding. Dry ice combined with detergent will improve porosity in irrigation wells. Dry ice alone will improve porosity in domestic wells.

Dry Ice Fun

Homemade Root Beer. To make 1 gallon root beer, mix the following together in a metal bowl.

	1 lb. Sugar
	1gal. Purified Water
	1 oz. Schilling Root Beer Extract
	Add 3-5 lbs. dry ice and allow total vaporization.

Fog

Fill a large metal bowl 1/2 full with hot water. Add 3-4 pieces of dry ice every 10-15 minutes. Be sure the water remains hot.

Party Punch

Place one to two small pieces of dry ice inside a plastic or metal punch bowl, then add non-carbonated punch. Add dry ice as needed. Or place dry ice in smaller plastic or metal bowl1/2 full of hot water and place inside punch bowl. Add punch to outer bowl. Add dry ice and water to smaller bowl as needed.
